Jamal “Gravy” Woolard in Jamaica for Mavado Collabos
Jamal Woolard, better known on the rap / mixtape circuit as “Gravy” and more recently as the actor who portrayed Christopher “Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace in the biopic “Notorious“, arrived in Kingston earlier today with high-riding dancehall star Mavado. The two will be collaborating on several projects while Gravy is in the island.
In other Mavado news, he created history over the weekend at a show in Rochester (upstate New York). Despite being the only billed act for the show, an astonishing 4,000 fans turned out in freezing sub-zero temperatures and snowstorms to see him at the huge Armory venue. Observers said it was the biggest Dancehall show ever in Rochester, and attracted more patrons than many rap shows including recent gigs featuring T.I. and Fat Joe.
He also made an unprecedented three live appearances (Thursday – Saturday) on hip hop legend Funkmaster Flex’s HOT 97 radio show in New York. Mavado rounded off the weekend last night, hosting and performing at a jam-packed event in Manhattan, New York at Club Prime. We’ve featured a couple pictures (courtesy of datzwhatzup.net) from last night’s show below. More pics of Mavado at Club Prime in NYC last night can be seen here.
