Greensleeves Records has announced the launch of a brand new music series dubbed “Evolution Of Dub“. Evolution Of Dub is a series of seven 4-CD box sets from Greensleeves that explores key moments in the evolution of dub music. The journey begins with ‘The Origin of Species”, at the dawn of dub with Joe Gibbs’ mega-rare “Dub Serial” from 1973, before exploring the ground-breaking, speaker-shaking work of other key players in dub including King Tubby, Prince Jammy, Bunny Lee and others. The story is then brought right up to the present with a brand new 2009 dub set from producer Shane Brown. All sets come with illustrated booklets featuring informative sleeve notes from reggae historian Noel Hawkes.

The Evolution Of Dub Vol.1 – The Origin Of Species – is now available. Click here to buy it online via Amazon. It features four original albums in reproduction card sleeves collected together in themed box:
1. Joe Gibbs ‘Dub Serial’ from 1973 – recorded at Randy’s with Errol Thompson at the controls.
2. Two crucial dub box sets from King Tubby are also included – ‘Dub From The Roots’ from 1974 and ‘The Roots Of Dub’ from 1975 – produced by Bunny Lee.
3. The final disc is Niney The Observer’s ‘Dubbing With The Observer’ from 1975.

Vol.2 The Great Leap Forward is coming next month (May).
