Dancehall.Mobi special update – below we’ve featured two Las May cartoons which appeared recently in the Jamaica Gleaner newspaper. Both speak to the perceived role of dancehall music in Jamaica’s societal problems.

The first cartoon features youths sitting idly on a corner, lamenting the state of the economy, but cynically stating that at least they have Gaza and Gully music to inspire them.

The second, features a lady and a child who is presumably her son; she walks away from the house saying she’s off to Passa Passa (street dance), meanwhile the son is thinking he won’t be staying at the house by himself, and a paper that was discarded nearby highlights a real topic that has come to the fore recently – the cases of missing children seemingly spiraling out of control.
