Sean Paul Talks About Being Styled As UPT
Dancehall.Mobi special update – late last week, Sean Paul’s Twitter followers would have seen his tirade directed at a particularly persistent follower, who told him “don’t fabricate street cred … be real” (among other things), apparently based on statements made by Sean Paul during a recent television interview on the Mo’Nique Show. Sean Paul was clearly not amused, and in an exclusive follow-up interview with Nikki-Z, he spoke further about people constantly styling him as UPT (uptown) – born with a gold spoon in his mouth. Check it out below.

He will always be accused or will always be labeled as uptown because Sean Paul comes off different from the other Jamaican artistes. In that, his lyrics does not surround degrading, drugs and the other nastiness other rising dj’s sing about. He also isn’t black (you know what I mean-he looks diff from the others – brown skin). So sad that today in Jamaica we still have a racial problem. I do not agree with others who say he is upt. I don’t think Sean should ever be responding to those people. People want him to be a ’streggeh’ lose and uncouth. I want sean paul to continue blaze the trail overseas and continue selling thousands of records that these low down artistes just wish they could sell.
There will always be haters!! that’s their job sean Paul… Just keep on representing our little Island in a positive way. Those Djs back home need to take a page from your book and realize that they do not have to write lyrics based on GUNS or the degradation of WOMEN to make it in the muzik industry. Jamaica’s reputation is tarnished abroad and if u have to remain uptown to keep reggae afloat then so be it…. YOUR FANS WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU SEAN PAUL……
HATERS DIE!!!!!!!!!!!
