Kingston 11 Splash Promoter Cries Foul
Dancehall.Mobi special update – the promoter of an event dubbed Kingston 11 Splash, which was to take place on Saturday, November 28 at Cling Cling Oval in Olympic Gardens, and feature a host of upcoming and popular artistes including Vybz Kartel and the Portmore Empire, is now crying foul, as on the morning of the day that the event was to be held, the police suddenly revoked the event permit that they had previously issued him.
Their explanation – they had received credible evidence that gunmen were making plans to attack certain patrons who would be attending the event, and so, in the interest of public safety, they had no choice but to revoke the permit in order to prevent the event from happening. According to unconfirmed reports, the promoter is now facing losses in the region of J$10 million, with the irony being that he had planned this event with the hope that it would help to bring unity and revenue to a community that has been torn apart by political and gang violence.
