Dancehall.Mobi events update – the busy holiday entertainment season is well underway here in Jamaica, but the authorities seem to have their sights set on keeping things in check. Last night, the popular Boasy Tuesday street dance on Lyndhurst Road in Kingston was not held at all, as the police reportedly asked the promoter not to host it this week due to an incident which happened at a different event at the same location over the weekend. It will, however, be back next week.

That aside, other events have come under heavy police scrutiny in recent times. Just last weekend, the permit for Kingston 11 Splash was revoked on the morning of the day of the event; last weekend Wednesday night, Weddy Weddy was shut down at exactly midnight; two weeks ago, Uptown Mondays was shut down and the patrons searched and several men detained; the police are reportedly undecided about whether Mavado’s Birthnite Bash will be permitted on December 5.
