Will Mavado’s Birthnite Bash Be Allowed?
Dancehall.Mobi events update – leading dancehall singjay Mavado’s Real McKoy birthnite bash (flyer below) is set to happen this Saturday, December 5, at the Temple Hall Estate in the hills of St. Andrew, but unconfirmed reports indicate that the police have not yet made a decision as to whether they will allow the party to take place.
Last weekend, another major event – Kingston Splash – had its permit revoked on the morning of the show date, as the police claimed they had credible evidence that gunmen were making plans to attack certain patrons who would be attending the event. It is not known if the indecision about the permit for Mavado’s party is for similar reasons, or if it is related to the ongoing Gully/Gaza feud that has now spilled outside the camps of Mavado and his arch rival Vybz Kartel, and into the everyday lives of persons of all ages. Just last week, a report in the Jamaica Observer newspaper said that the police were implementing strong measures to address the Gaza/Gully feud – which they said is increasingly threatening the stability of communities.
