Police Shut Down Usain Bolt’s 9.58 Super Party
Dancehall.Mobi special update – at approximately 4:20 a.m. this morning, Usain Bolt’s 9.58 Super Party at the Richmond Estate in St. Ann, was shut down by the police, 20 minutes beyond the special 4 a.m. cut off time that had been granted to the event’s promoters. Significantly, it was shut down before high-riding deejay Vybz Kartel had a chance to perform. He was reportedly allowed to do a cappella of a single line of one of his songs, before the police pulled the plug.
Under Jamaica’s Noise Abatement Act, stage shows, dances and other such events must cease playing music at 12 midnight on weeknights and 2 a.m. on weekends. In recent times, the police all over the island have been rigorously enforcing the Noise Abatement Act, much to the displeasure of many patrons, sound system owners and event organizers.
