Buju Banton Affidavit
This is a Dancehall.Mobi special update. Below we’ve featured the affidavit that was made public yesterday by the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), regarding the conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine charges that international dancehall / reggae artiste Buju Banton currently faces (along with his alleged co-conspirators – Ian Thomas and James Mack).

Is not an easy road… I’m just amaze on how fast some people are ready to throw Buju under the bus.When the b-man community was kicking him down and canceling all his show most of the dancehall community stayed quiet. Now he is in trouble everybody have something to say…Buju stay strong and hold the faith…

this is too much of a coincidence the fish dem a press gargamel from the year start and out a the blue him get catch pon drug conspiracy charge….doesn’t int make you think????
Hmmm…Glad I read Afrobella’s blog which directed me here. This affidavit does raise some questions: who was the “unknown black female” and why is she still unknown and not in custody too? Couldn’t/shouldn’t she be charged for being an accessory to the deal? At what point was Buju arrested? The affidavit doesn’t say anything about this; it doesn’t say he was at the warehouse or at Applebee’s during the key phases of the deal so he was not directly involved in the actual transfer of the goods. That is a very important loophole: makes the case more circumstantial than I first thought; probable cause is the best the DEA could do. If Buju doesn’t plea and he has a good lawyer, he will likely get off. On the other hand, Mack and Thomas are toast; caught red- or really white-handed. In fact, Buju will probably throw them under the bus to take any suspicion and attention off him. All this could have been avoided if these men were not so blasted greedy.
Buju Banton was released from Custody on 1-5-2010 according to the Board of Prison website. More to come

I read this affadivit and there are many many loop holes lurking… I have to stay tune for this one cause as far as I read, he only lick cocaine off ah knife.. he didn’t have c-k or cash in his hand at no point…
Although the U.S. Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator shows that Mark Myrie, aka “Buju Banton” was released on 01/05/10, he is still in U.S. federal custody.
Mark Myrie is now in the Pinellas County jail where he is being held for trial in Tampa, Florida. “The Pinellas County jail has a contract with the U.S. Marshals Service to house federal prisoners awaiting trial, said Pinellas County sheriff’s Sgt. Tom Nestor.”
