No Mavado, Serani, Flippa Mafia & Assassin In UK Tomorrow
Dancehall.Mobi events update – Mavado, Serani, Flippa Mafia & Assassin were set to headline an “Christmas Fest ’09″ (flyer below) in London tomorrow, however, according Julian Jones-Griffith (manager of Serani and Mavado), Mavado and Serani will not be there – due to the inability of the promoters to fulfill their contractual obligations. According to reports, Assassin and Flippa Mafia will not be there either – for the same reason outlined above.

We’ve featured Jones-Griffith official statement on the matter below:
Due to the inability of the promoter to fulfill anywhere near their contractual obligations we regret to announce to our UK-based fans that Mavado and Serani will not be appearing at the advertised shows in Coventry on Saturday night, nor at the Stratford Rex on Sunday night.
We gave the promoters, Yard and Abroad and Lloydie Peck, every opportunity up to the eleventh hour to make it happen and they simply failed. We have worked with Yard and Abroad on two previous occasions and have never had a problem, so we are baffled as to the events that have unfolded.
There are two fundamental problems – lack of adequate deposit from the promoters to us and the fact that flights were not booked as per the contract, despite promise after empty promise. As late as 5 hours before supposed departure tonight the flights had not been ticketed, apparently because the promoters couldn’t afford to pay for them. A last minute “investor” was found for the show but regrettably he booked the flights incorrectly and, coupled with the lack of deposit, it was simply the last straw.
We have received many emails, calls and texts over recent weeks from the UK that thousands of fans were looking forward to the shows, which also featured Assassin and Flippa Mafia, so we know the disappointment of the fans matches ours. I can say categorically that the exact same situation has befallen Assassin and Flippa.
Mavado and Serani, who had both been issued valid work permit visas for the duration of their stay this weekend, are very mindful of the damage these promoters may have done to their reputations and are taking legal advice, though legal redress would appear futile as the promoters do not seem to have any funds. They both want their fans to know that we tried everything and held out to the last minute with every hope and prayer to make these shows happen but it was not to be.
We look forward to 2010 where we will take matters into our own hands and promote more shows, including a tour of the UK, ourselves to avoid such unprofessional business practices. Its always the fans that lose out and we will do our best to ensure their complete satisfaction in the coming year.
