Buju Banton Trial Rescheduled To September
It’s a long journey, and apparently a mighty long way to go for dancehall/reggae deejay Buju Banton, who has been jailed in the U.S. since his arrest on Federal drug charges in Florida in December, 2009.
A federal judge has once again changed the trial date for Banton’s trial, this time without giving a reason. Banton’s trial was originally scheduled to begin on April 19, but 11 days before the trial was set to start, it was moved to June 21. And today, it was announced that the case has now been moved to the September trial calendar. The actual trial date will reportedly be set at a status conference in August.
As he did in April, Banton’s attorney – David Oscar Markus – has filed an objection, saying the change violates the federal Speedy Trial Act. This law requires that a criminal defendant’s trial start within 70 days of him being charged or makes an initial appearance, whichever is later. Markus has also cited the cost of rearranging travel plans for its witnesses. It is not immediately clear if this objection was denied or if it will be heard soon.
Boy, oh boy! When d high and mighty feel they av power over others life! Hang in day n stay strong buju. Jah jah nah go let d righteous suffer n he doh give more than u cud bear!
YES I!
I and I know for a fact that this rescheduling of Biju Banton trial means that the US Federal Promoters are just attempting to gain time to solidify their case against Buju.
It also means that whatever, whichever evidence they may have at this time being is to weak to win the court case against Buju.
The US Justice System will suffer a big backlash from the world Media when Buju is found innocent and left go free.
Hold on, Buju. Your day of redemption is soon coming!
Tall Man Joe
All that is being done to Buju is violation of his rights! All this federal crap leaves Buju with no dignity, and it is undemocratic! This needs the intervention of Barack Obama!

Buju, Jah will not give you more than you can bear, you shall come out a dis fire unhurt, they shall be consumed in their own fire, hold on to the Words of the most high, you mus soon come a road…….Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
FEAR NO BABYLON TERRORS MR> MENTON THE ALMIGHTY JAH WILL JUIDE HIS SON AND NO HARM SHALL BE DONE TO YOU. WHE LUV YU WE MISS YU OUR NO.1 STAR MAY JAH BE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AND US ALL YOUR FANS. VICTORY IS CERTAIN ONENESS ALL THE THE TIME JAH GUIDE
This is just another example of Babylon mashin up Jamaica. Them start mashin up Jamaica in the early seventies and them nuh wan fi stop now. Punishment a sure fi come to all that shall discredit and imprison this great niabinghy musician. I pray for the falling of all wicked men!!!
As Tall Man Joe said, the only reason they keep putting off this trial is because they don’t have enough evidence. When you go infront of a judge, before any court starts and you don’t have enough evidence he’s going to chase you out of his office until you can proof something. There is not enough evidence to convict him of any crime and he will be set free… Unless the jurors and judge can’t wait to put him away. Be strong Buju God is with you… And look at the so-called Johnson he was locked up in jail for three years for drug trafficking and void deportation because of this informant deal… SHAME ON THE US LAW SYSTEM…
