Noticed The Change In Mavado’s Music?
Have you noticed a change in the lyrical content of Mavado’s songs? Lines such as “… gun inna hand this ah nuh gun over wall …” and “… marrow will fly to the sky …” from two of his older songs, have now been replaced by songs such as ‘Gal Ova Gun’ (Double Action riddim) and his latest song, ‘Change Right Now’, which includes the following lines: “… too many suffering … too many tears .. nobody cares … people dem a live inna fear … the system need fi change right now, too much youth a go dung inna grave right now, yuh nuh see the bigga heads a gaze right now.“
A 1-minute clip of the Stephen McGregor-produced ‘Change Right Now’ is featured below:

I think not only Movado but almost every major dancehall act have cleaned up their act recently with a lot of girl, party, money and celebratory chunes.
Looks like the bitch-slap by the broadcasting commission last year is reaping dividends
